1       Meeting of House

         The House met pursuant to adjournment.  The Speaker (Hon Peter Lewis) took the Chair and read prayers.

 

2       Address in Reply

Order of the Day read for the adjourned debate on the question - That the Address be adopted.

         Debate resumed.

         Ordered, on motion of Ms Bedford, that the debate be further adjourned and resumed on motion.

 

3       Suspension and resumption of sitting

         At 12.58 pm the sitting of the House was suspended.

         At 2.00 pm the Speaker resumed the Chair.

 

4       Petitions Nos 5 to 7

         The Clerk announced that the following Members had lodged Petitions for presentation:

 

5   The Attorney-General (Hon M J Atkinson), from 1730 residents of South Australia, requesting that the House pass legislation providing for the prosecution of child sexual abuse offences committed before 1982.

 

6   Ms Rankine, from 165 residents of South Australia, requesting that the House provide for traffic signals at the junction of The Golden Grove Way and Wynn Vale Drive, Golden Grove.

 

7   Ms Rankine, from 13 residents of South Australia, requesting that the House prohibit the establishment of a national nuclear waste storage facility for intermediate or high level radioactive waste in South Australia .

         The Speaker proposed - That the House note grievances.

         Debate ensued.

         Question put and passed.

 

8       Nuclear Waste Storage Facility (Prohibition) (Referendum) Amendment Bill

The Minister for Environment and Conservation (Hon J D Hill), pursuant to notice, moved - That he have leave to introduce a Bill for an Act to amend the Nuclear Waste Storage Facility (Prohibition) Act 2000.

Question put and passed.

         Bill presented and read a first time.

 

         The Minister moved - That this Bill be now read a second time.

         Ordered, on motion of Hon I F Evans, that the debate be adjourned until Monday next.

 

9       Address in Reply

Ordered - That the adjourned debate on the question that the Address in Reply be adopted be resumed.

         Debate resumed.

 

10      Extension of time for adjournment

The Minister for Tourism (Hon J D Lomax-Smith) moved - That the time for moving the adjournment of the House be extended beyond 5.00 pm.

Question put and passed.

 

11      Address in Reply

         Debate (interrupted by the foregoing motion) resumed.

Ordered, on motion of the Minister for Environment and Conservation, that the debate be further adjourned until Monday next.

 

12      Adjournment
