Ordered, on motion of Minister for Police, Correctional Services and Emergency Services (Hon R L Brokenshire), that the debate be further adjourned on motion.

 

4       Message from the Governor

      The following Message from the Governor was received and read:

 

      Education (Councils and Charges) Amendment Bill – Recommending

The Governor recommends to the House of Assembly the appropriation of such amounts of money as may be required for the purposes mentioned in the Education (Councils and Charges) Amendment Bill 2000.

5       Petition No 17

The Clerk announced that the following Member had lodged a Petition for presentation:

 

17   The Minister for Government Enterprises (Hon M H Armitage), from 392 residents of South Australia, requesting that the House ensure Government funding of public libraries is maintained.

 

6       Economic and Finance Committee – Annual Report, 1999-2000

Hon G M Gunn brought up the Thirty-Second Report of the Economic and Finance Committee being the Annual Report, 1999-2000.

Report received.

Ordered to be published (Paper No 190).

 

7       Questions

8       Grievance debate

         The Speaker proposed - That the House note grievances.

9       Message from the Legislative Council

         The following Message from the Legislative Council was received and read:

MR SPEAKER - The Legislative Council has passed the Bill transmitted herewith, titled an Act to amend the Associations Incorporation Act 1985, to which it desires the concurrence of the House of Assembly.

10      Education (Councils and Charges) Bill

Ordered – That Notice of Motion: Government Business No 1 – be now resumed.

The Minister for Tourism (Hon J L Hall), pursuant to notice, moved - That she have leave to introduce a Bill for an Act to amend the Education Act 1972 and to make a related amendment to the Children’s Services Act 1985.

Question put and passed.

 

         Bill presented and read a first time.

         The Minister moved - That this Bill be now read a second time.
