2†††††† Death of Former Member - Hon M B Dawkins

The Deputy Premier (Hon S J Baker), by leave, moved - That this House expresses its regret at the recent death of Hon M B Dawkins, former Member of the Legislative Council, and places on record its appreciation of his meritorious service; and that as a mark of respect to his memory the sitting of the House be suspended until the ringing of the bells.

And being supported by the Leader of the Opposition (Hon M D Rann) and Messers Venning, Buckby and Meier.

Motion carried in silence, Members rising in their places.

At 2.16 pm the sitting of the House was suspended.

The Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Local Government Relations moved on page 8, after line 27, to insert subsections as follows.

(3)† The Commissioners must, during the period of administration, ensure that the City of Adelaide does not enter into a contract to sell or otherwise dispose of property of the City of Adelaide with a value exceeding $100 000 unless the Commissioners have first consulted with the Minister.

(4)† However, the validity of a contract with the ambit of subsection (3) is not affected by a failure to comply with that subsection.
