The House met pursuant to adjournment.  The Speaker (Hon. G.M. Gunn) took the Chair and read prayers.

 

 2        Petitions Nos 32 to 38

                  The Clerk announced that the following Members had lodged Petitions for presentation:

 

32 to 35 The Minister for Industry, Manufacturing, Small Business and Regional Development (Hon. J. W. Olsen), the Minister for the Environment and Natural Resources (Hon. D. C. Wotton), Mr Buckby and Mr Lewis, from 630 residents of South Australia, requesting that the House urge the Government to criminalise sodomy.

 

36 and 37 The Minister for Mines and Energy (Hon. D.S. Baker) and Mr Andrew, from 32 residents of South Australia, requesting that the House urge the Government to retain the South Australian Film and Video Centre.

 

38 The Minister for the Environment and Natural Resources, from 2 405 residents of South Australia, requesting that the House urge the Government to assist the Stirling Council with repayment of its bushfire debt.

 

 3        Auditor-General's Report

The Speaker laid on the Table the Special Report of the Auditor-General relating to the Senior Secondary Assessment Board and Nepotism in the Public Service, August 1994.

MR SPEAKER - The Legislative Council has passed the Bill transmitted herewith, titled an Act to amend the Criminal Law Consolidation Act 1935 and to make consequential amendments to other legislation to provide for the abolition of the classification of offences as felonies and misdemeanours; and for other purposes, to which it desires the concurrence of the House of Assembly.
