1       Meeting of House

The House met pursuant to adjournment.  The Speaker (Hon J K G Oswald) took the Chair and read prayers.

 

2       Petitions Nos 36 and 37

         The Clerk announced that the following Members had lodged Petitions for presentation:

 

36   Mr Conlon, from 92 residents of South Australia, requesting that the House urge the Government to continue the 1998 level of funding to the Vermont Community Kindergarten throughout 1999.

 

37   Mr McEwen, from 2 005 residents of South Australia, requesting that the House urge the Government to order the redesign and reconstruction of the intersection of Fairbanks and Vorwerk Roads in the District Council of Grant.

 

3       Legislative Review Committee - Reports – Ninth and Tenth

Mr Condous brought up the Ninth Report of the Committee.

         Report received and read as follows:

 

The Regulations listed hereunder are presently being considered by the Legislative Review Committee. Evidence is being taken on this matter and it is necessary for a Notice of Motion for disallowance to be given in both Houses before the expiration of 14 sitting days to allow the Committee time to complete its deliberations.

Honourable Members are warned that after consideration had been given to the Regulations, the Committee may decide to take no further action.

         Regulation referred to:

               Children’s Services Act 1985 – Regulations – Child Care Centres.

 

Mr Condous brought up the Tenth Report of the Committee.

         Report received.

Mr Condous to move – That the Regulations made under the Children Services Act 1985 relating to Child Care Centres, gazetted on 3 December 1998 and laid on the Table of this House on 8 December 1998, be disallowed.

 

Mr Hill to move – That Standing Order 339 be and remain so far suspended as to enable the Select Committee on Water Allocation in the South East to authorise the disclosure or publication, as it seems fit, on any evidence presented to the Committee prior to such evidence being reported to the House.
