         The House met pursuant to adjournment. The Speaker (Hon Peter Lewis) took the Chair and read prayers.

 

2        Messages from the Governor

The following Messages from the Governor’s Deputy were received and read:

 

Chiropractic and Osteopathy Practice Bill – Recommending                 Message No 12

The Governor’s Deputy recommends to the House of Assembly the appropriation of such amounts of money as may be required for the purposes mentioned in the Chiropractic and Osteopathy Practice Bill 2005.

Assent to Bill                                                                                          Message No 13

The Governor’s Deputy informs the House of Assembly that, in the name and on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen, the following Act was assented to during the fourth Session of the 50th Parliament, viz –

No. 1 of 2005        An Act to amend the Correctional Services Act 1982.

3       Petition No. 51

         The Clerk announced that the following Member had lodged a Petition for presentation:

 

51   Mr Brokenshire, from 172 residents of South Australia, requesting the House to urge the Government to provide intensive care facilities at Noarlunga Hospital.

An answer to a question without notice was tabled by the Speaker.

9       Criminal Assets Confiscation Bill

Order of the Day read for the adjourned debate on the question - That this Bill be now read a second time.

Hon I F Evans moved on page 5, after line 5, to insert:

            (6a)       Section 5(1), definition of member—after "receipt of salary" insert:

but does not include a non-participating member

Question – That the amendment be agreed to – put and negatived.

 

Clause No 4 otherwise amended and agreed to.

Clauses Nos 5 to 47 agreed to.

 

Hon R B Such moved on page 33, after line 20, to insert a new clause as follows:

47A—Amendment of section 3—Interpretation

Section 3—after the definition of Commonwealth basic salary insert:

PSA means the Parliamentary Superannuation Act 1974;

PSS 1 means the scheme of superannuation known as PSS 1 under the PSA;

PSS 2 means the scheme of superannuation known as PSS 2 under the PSA;

PSS 3 means the scheme of superannuation known as PSS 3 under the PSA;

PSS 3 member means a member of PSS 3;

 

Question – That the proposed new clause be inserted – put and negatived.

 

Clause No 48 amended and agreed to.

New Clause No 49 inserted.

Schedule agreed to.

Title amended and agreed to.
