The House met pursuant to adjournment.  The Speaker (Hon J K G Oswald) took the Chair and read prayers.

 

2       Petitions Nos 69 and 70

         The Clerk announced that the following Members had lodged Petitions for presentation:

 

69   Mr Meier, from 992 residents of South Australia, requesting that the House urge the Government to reinstate a permanent police presence at the Moonta Police Station.

 

70   Mr Meier, from 3 299 residents of South Australia, requesting that the House urge the Government to ensure continued free public access to the Wallaroo Jetty.

 

3       Economic and Finance Committee - Report – Annual Report 1998-99

Hon G M Gunn brought up the Twenty-Ninth Report of the Committee being the Annual Report 1998-99.

         Report received.

4       Legislative Review Committee - Report – Seventeenth Report

Mr Condous brought up the Seventeenth Report of the Committee.

         Report received.

The Minister for Police, Correctional Services and Emergency Services (Hon R L Brokenshire), by leave, moved – That the Select Committee on the Emergency Services Levy have leave to sit during the sittings of the House today.

MR SPEAKER - The Legislative Council has agreed to the Bill returned herewith, titled an Act to amend the Debits Tax Act 1994, the Financial Institutions Duty Act 1983 and the Stamp Duties Act 1923, without any amendment.

11      Public Works Committee - Report – Riverside Precinct Redevelopment – Adelaide Convention Centre Extension - Motion to note

Mr Lewis, pursuant to notice, moved - That the One Hundred and Third (Interim) Report of the Committee on the Riverside Precinct Redevelopment – Adelaide Convention Centre Extension be noted.

         Debate ensued.

Ms Stevens moved to amend the motion by inserting after the word “noted” the words “and the recommendations be adopted”.

Debate continued.

         Ordered, on motion of Mr Meier, that the debate be adjourned and resumed on motion.
