1       Meeting of House

         The House met pursuant to adjournment. The Speaker (Hon Peter Lewis) took the Chair and read prayers.

 

2       Answers to questions

Answers to questions on the Notice Paper Nos 286 and 295 and questions without notice were tabled by the Speaker.

 

3       Papers

         The following Paper was tabled:

 

         By the Premier (Hon M D Rann) -

Anglican Diocese of Adelaide – Report of the Board of Inquiry into the handling of claims of sexual abuse and misconduct.

 

The Premier, by leave, moved - That this House authorise for the purposes of section 12 of the Wrongs Act 1936, the publication and printing of the Report of the Board of Inquiry into the handling of claims of sexual abuse and misconduct prepared by the Anglican Diocese of Adelaide.

         Question put and passed.

 

4       Questions

Questions without notice were asked.

 

5       Grievance debate

On motion of the Speaker, the House noted grievances.

 

6        Joint Parliamentary Services Committee - Substitution of Member

The Attorney-General (Hon M J Atkinson), by leave, moved - That pursuant to Section 5 of the Parliament (Joint Services) Act 1985, the Member for Schubert (Mr Venning) be appointed to the Joint Parliamentary Service Committee in place of the Member for MacKillop (Mr Williams), resigned, and the Member for Stuart (Hon G M Gunn), be appointed as the alternate member to the Member for Schubert.

Question put and passed.

 

7       Bail (Mentally and Intellectually Impaired Offenders) Amendment Bill

The Attorney-General, pursuant to notice, moved - That he have leave to introduce a Bill for an Act to amend the Bail Act 1985.

Question put and passed.

         Bill presented and read a first time.

 

         The Minister moved - That this Bill be now read a second time.

         Ordered, on motion of Hon R G Kerin, that the debate be adjourned until tomorrow.

 

8       Tobacco Products Regulation (Further Restrictions) Amendment Bill

The Minister for Health (Hon L Stevens), pursuant to notice, moved - That she have leave to introduce a Bill for an Act to amend the Tobacco Products Regulation Act 1997.

Question put and passed.

         Bill presented and read a first time.

 

         The Minister moved - That this Bill be now read a second time.

         Ordered, on motion of Hon R G Kerin, that the debate be adjourned until tomorrow.

 

9       Postponement of business

Ordered - That Orders of the Day: Government Business Nos 1 and 2 be postponed and taken into consideration after Order of the Day: Government Business No 3.

 

10      Appropriation Bill

Order of the Day read for the adjourned debate on the question - That this Bill be now read a second time.

11      Message from the Legislative Council

         The following Message from the Legislative Council was received and read:

 

         Health and Community Services Complaints Bill                                   Message No 67

MR SPEAKER - The Legislative Council has disagreed to the amendment made by the House of Assembly to the Legislative Council’s Amendment No 25 in the Health and Community Services Complaints Bill and insists on this Amendment.  The Legislative Council insists on Amendments Nos 2, 4, 5, 9, 13 to 16, 18 to 21, 23, 26 to 35 and 37 to 42 to which the House of Assembly has disagreed.  The Bill is returned herewith.
