 1             Meeting of House

                The House met pursuant to adjournment.  The Speaker (Hon. N.T. Peterson) took the

                    Chair and read prayers.

 

 2             Joint Committee on Subordinate Legislation - Minutes of Proceedings

                Mr McKee, by leave, brought up the Joint Committee on Subordinate Legislation

                    Minutes of Proceedings of 21 August.

                Minutes received.

 

 3             Joint Committee on Subordinate Legislation - Minutes of Evidence

                Mr McKee brought up the Minutes of Evidence given before the Joint Committee on

                Subordinate Legislation on Regulations under the -

                (a)     Metropolitan Taxi-Cab Act relating to Consumer Safety and Service; and the

                (b)     Building Act relating to the National Technical Code.

                Minutes received.

 

 4             Speaker's Statement - Privilege

                The Speaker made a statement on a matter of privilege as follows:

                "Yesterday the Member for Hayward rose on a matter of privilege and alleged that the

                    Minister for Environment and Planning had misled the House.  I undertook to investigate the matter and give a ruling.

                Having now investigated the material the Member for Hayward provided me and

                    perused the transcript of the events I am not satisfied that a prima facie case has been made out and I rule accordingly."

 

 5             Questions

                Questions without notice were asked.

 

 6             Postponement of business

                Ordered - That Notice of Motion (Government Business) No. 1 be a Notice of Motion

                    for tomorrow.

 

 7             Maralinga Tjarutja Land Rights (Additional Lands) Amendment Bill

                The Minister of Aboriginal Affairs (Hon. M.D. Rann), pursuant to notice, moved -

                    That he have leave to introduce a Bill for an Act to amend the Maralinga Tjarutja Land Rights Act 1984.

                Question put and passed.

 

                Bill presented and read a first time.

                The Minister moved - That this Bill be now read a second time.

                Ordered, on motion of Mr Gunn, that the debate be adjourned until tomorrow.

                Order of the Day read for the adjourned debate on the question - That the Supply Bill

                    (No. 2) be now read a second time.

                The Minister for Environment and Planning (Hon. S.M. Lenehan) moved - That the

                    Speaker do now leave the Chair and the House resolve itself into a Committee of the whole for the consideration of the Bill.

                The Minister of Transport (Hon. F.T. Blevins) moved - That the House do now

                    adjourn.
