1       Meeting of House

         The House met pursuant to adjournment. The Speaker (Hon R B Such) took the Chair and read prayers.

 

2       Speaker's Statement – Reflecting on a Member

The Speaker stated that he required the Member for Hammond to withdraw the reflection on the Member for Unley in the offensive words he used in the House yesterday and to apologise for their use.  Mr Lewis withdrew and apologised.

 

3       Ceduna Regional Sitting - Motion re

Mrs Penfold, pursuant to notice, moved - That the next regional sitting of the House of Assembly before the next State election be held in Ceduna.

         Debate ensued.

Ms Breuer moved to amend the motion by deleting all the words after “That” and inserting in lieu thereof “consideration be given to holding the next regional sitting of the House of Assembly in Ceduna”.

Debate ensued.

         Question – That the amendment be agreed to - put.

4       Withdrawal of Business

Pursuant to Sessional Orders, Notice of Motion: Other Motions No 2, in the name of Mrs Hall was withdrawn from the Notice Paper.

 

5       Housing in Regional Areas - Motion re

Mrs Redmond, pursuant to notice, moved - That this House calls on the Government to immediately address all issues associated with housing shortages in regional areas.

         Debate ensued.

         Question put and negatived.

 

6       Regional Road Infrastructure - Motion re

Mr Brokenshire, pursuant to notice, moved - That this House calls on the Government to immediately address the chronic deterioration of road infrastructure in regional South Australia.

Ordered, on motion of Mrs Geraghty, that the debate be adjourned until Thursday 22 September.

11      Matter of Privilege – Minister for Health

The Leader of the Opposition (Hon R G Kerin), raised as a matter of privilege the alleged misleading of the House by the Minister for Health (Hon L Stevens) in answers to questions concerning the content of a discussion with a group of expectant mothers regarding the new model for birthing services at the Gawler Hospital.

The Speaker advised that he would consider the matter and report back to the House.

 

12      Conference – Statutes Amendment and Repeal (Aggravated Offences) Bill

The Minister for Transport (Hon P F Conlon), moved - That the sitting of the House be continued during the Conference with the Legislative Council on the Statutes Amendment and Repeal (Aggravated Offences) Bill.

13      Public Works Committee - Reports – Port Elliot Primary School and Kindergarten Relocation and Willunga Primary School Redevelopment
