The Minister for Industry, Trade and Regional Development tabled a copy of a Ministerial Statement made by the Attorney-General (The Hon. M. J. Atkinson, M.P.) concerning the Director of Public Prosecutions, together with a report from Mr. Chris Kourakis, Q.C., Solicitor-General to the Attorney-General, concerning a Request to Advise on Matter of Paul Nemer and Associated Issues, dated 7 April 2004.

The Minister for Industry, Trade and Regional Development, according to order, moved - That the Statutes Amendment (Courts) Bill be now read a second time.

                 On motion of the Hon. R. D. Lawson, the debate was adjourned until next day of sitting.

   7.

The Council, according to order, resolved itself into a Committee of the Whole for the consideration of the Health and Community Services Complaints Bill.

                          Clause No. 4  read.

                 The Hon. A. J. Redford moved on page 5, after line 23, to insert -

                          ‘"Commissioner" means the Health and Community Services Complaints Commissioner appointed under Part 2 (and includes a person acting in that office from time to time);’.

                 The Hon. A. J. Redford moved - That the Chairperson report progress and obtain leave for the Committee to sit again.

The Council, according to order, resolved itself into a Committee of the Whole for the consideration of the Consent to Medical Treatment and Palliative Care (Prescribed Forms) Amendment Bill.

                          Title agreed to.

                 The President resumed the Chair, and reported that the Committee had considered the Bill and had agreed to the same without amendment; whereupon the Council adopted such report.

                 The Minister for Industry, Trade and Regional Development, pursuant to contingent notice, moved - That the Standing Orders be so far suspended as to enable the Bill to pass through its remaining stages without delay.

                 Question put and passed.

                 Bill read a third time.

                 Resolved - That this Bill do now pass.
