Council met pursuant to adjournment.  The President (The Hon. J. C. Irwin) took the Chair.

A Messenger from the Governor having been announced by the Black Rod, the following Message was received and read:

        The Governor informs the Legislative Council that, in the name and on behalf of her Majesty the Queen, the following Acts have been assented to during the present Sessions, viz.:

                 No. 73 of 1998 - An Act to establish the Adelaide Festival Corporation; to provide for the

                     conduct of the Adelaide Festival of Arts; and for other purposes.

                 No. 74 of 1998 - An Act to amend the Guardianship and Administration Act 1993.

                 No. 75 of 1998 - An Act to amend the Passenger Transport Act 1994.

                 No. 76 of 1998 - An Act to amend the Road Traffic Act 1961; and to make a related amendment to the Motor Vehicles Act 1959.

                 No. 77 of 1998 - An Act to amend the Shop Trading Hours Act 1977 and to make a related amendment to the Retail and Commercial Leases Act 1995.

                 No. 78 of 1998 - An Act to amend the Summary Offences Act 1953.

                 No. 79 of 1998 - An Act to provide for the continuation of TransAdelaide as a statutory corporation; to make related amendments to the Passenger Transport Act 1994; and for other purposes.

                 No. 80 of 1998 - An Act to amend the Education Act 1972.

                 No. 81 of 1998 - An Act to amend the Petroleum Act 1940.

The Treasurer (The Hon. R. I. Lucas), by leave, moved - That the Legislative Council expresses its deep regret at the death of the Hon. D. A. Dunstan, A.C., Q.C., former  Premier and Member for Norwood for the House of Assembly and places on record its appreciation of his distinguished public service and that, as a mark of respect to his memory, the sitting of the Council be suspended until the ringing of the bells.

                 And being supported by the Hon. C. A. Pickles, the Hon. M. J. Elliott, the Hon.
D. V. Laidlaw, the Hon. P. Holloway, the Hon. R. D. Lawson, the Hon. T. G. Roberts, the Hon. S. M. Kanck, the Hon. C. Zollo, the Hon. L. H. Davis, the Hon R. R. Roberts, the Hon.

The Attorney-General, while making a Ministerial Statement, tabled a copy of the Summary of Findings and the Report of Mr. J.M.A. Crammond on the Inquiry into Allegations that the then Minister for Industry, Manufacturing, Small Business and Regional Development (now the Premier) misled Parliament on 21 September 1994, and on subsequent occasions, in answering questions relating to Motorola.

The Treasurer tabled a copy of a Ministerial Statement made by the Premier (The Hon.
J. W. Olsen, M.P.) concerning the Report of Mr. J.M.A. Crammond on the Inquiry into Allegations that the then Minister for Industry, Manufacturing, Small Business and Regional Development (now the Premier) misled Parliament on 21 September 1994, and on subsequent occasions, in answering questions relating to Motorola.
