   1.

Council met pursuant to adjournment.  The President (The Hon. R. R. Roberts) took the Chair.

The Minister for Agriculture, Food and Fisheries (The Hon. P. Holloway), by leave, without notice, moved - That on the first anniversary of the Bali bombings, the Legislative Council expresses its sympathy to the families of those who lost loved ones and to those still bravely confronting their injuries and memories; further, that the Council calls on the leaders of nations in our regions throughout the world to work together to fight hatred and intolerance and work for a lasting peace.

                 And being supported by the Hon. R. I. Lucas, the Hon. S. M. Kanck, the Hon. N. Xenophon, the Hon. A. L. Evans and the Hon. K. J. Reynolds:

The Minister for Agriculture, Food and Fisheries, by leave, moved - That the Legislative Council expresses its deep regret at the death of the Hon. Thomas Mannix Casey, former Member of the House of Assembly and of the Legislative Council and former Minister of the Crown, and places on record its appreciation of his distinguished public service.

                 And being supported by the Hon. R. I. Lucas:

The Minister for Agriculture, Food and Fisheries, by leave, moved - That as a mark of respect to their memories, the sitting of the Council be suspended until the ringing of the bells.

                 Question put and passed.

                 At fifteen minutes to three o’clock the sitting was suspended until the ringing of the bells.

                 At three o’clock the sitting was resumed.

                 MR. PRESIDENT - The House of Assembly has agreed to the Bill returned herewith, entitled a Bill for an Act to protect animal health, safety and welfare and the public interest by providing for the registration of veterinary surgeons; to regulate the provision of veterinary treatment for the purposes of maintaining high standards of competence and conduct by veterinary surgeons; to repeal the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1985; and for other purposes, without any amendment.
