The Council, according to order, resolved itself into a Committee of the Whole for the further consideration of the Statutes Amendment (Honesty and Accountability in Government) Bill.

                 The Hon. R. D. Lawson moved on page 5, after line 21, to insert new paragraph as follows:

                          “(ca)   by striking out from subsection (1) the definition of "relative" and substituting the following definition:

                                        "relative" means—

                                                            (a)                         in relation to a person who is a director or senior executive of a public corporation or a subsidiary of a public corporation or the spouse of such a director or senior executive—the spouse, parent or remoter linear ancestor, son, daughter or remoter issue or brother or sister of the person; or

                                                  (b)    in relation to any other person—the spouse of the person;”

                 Question - That the amendment be agreed to - put and negatived.

                          Clause No. 8 agreed to.

                 The Hon. R. D. Lawson moved on page 7, line 35, to leave out “or may conflict”.

                 The Hon. R. D. Lawson moved on page10, after line 23, to insert new subclause as follows:

                                    “(10a)  This section does not apply to an employee unless the employee has been given written notice of his or her obligations under this section.”

                          Clause No. 18 read.

                 The President resumed the Chair, and reported that the Committee had considered the Bill and had agreed to the same with amendments; whereupon the Council adopted such report.

                 The Minister for Agriculture, Food and Fisheries, pursuant to contingent notice, moved - That the Standing Orders be so far suspended as to enable the Bill to pass through its remaining stages without delay.

                 Question put and passed.

                 Bill read a third time.

                 Resolved - That this Bill do now pass.
