February 20, 1843, date of Imperial Act of 1842 coming into force
Under Letters Patent, February 23, 1836, from the arrival of the first Governor (December 28, 1836) until December 4, 1838, the Council of Government (Executive and Legislative) consisted of Five
Members - the Governor, Judge, Colonial Secretary, Advocate-General, and Resident Commissioner. After that date, until February 20, 1843, the titles of the Members were - the Governor and
Resident Commissioner, Colonial Secretary, Advocate-General, Surveyor-General, and Assistant Commissioner of Lands. All Members were appointed by the Crown.
The mark - denotes that the previous name on the left is to be carried on to the right, and shows that the person named held his seat or office in the year indicated at head of column.
