About ASPG

The Australasian Study of Parliament Group (ASPG) is a politically non-partisan body which was established in 1979 to encourage and stimulate research, writing, teaching and discussion about parliamentary institutions, particularly those in Australasia and the South Pacific.

The ASPG has Chapters in all States and Territories of Australia and in New Zealand. Its membership consists of parliamentarians, parliamentary officers, academics, teachers, journalists, students and other interested individuals. More information can be found at

An annual national conference is held each year in a different jurisdiction. ASPG Members are offered reduced registration fees to attend and encouraged to present papers. Representatives from the South Australian Chapter, including Members of Parliament, parliamentary staff and various South Australian academics regularly attended the Conference.

Australasian Parliamentary Review is the ASPG's official journal and is published twice a year. It is compiled by the Association and includes contributions from eminent judges, academics and parliamentary officers.  ASPG members receive the journal, (valued at $70.00) as part of their annual subscription.
