The Environment Resources and Development Committee is now receiving submissions in relation to the current status and potential for reform to the Coast Protection Act 1972 and its associated regulations, specifically:

  1. The structure, functions and powers of the Coast Protection Board in accordance with the Coast Protection Act 1972;
  2. The authority of the Coast Protection Board in accordance with Schedule 9 of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure (General) Regulations 2017, and criteria or triggers for referral;
  3. How protection and development in coastal areas should be managed in the future; including, but not limited to investigating the Board’s processes and procedures for:
    1. Managing community and stakeholder expectations (i.e. communications and community engagement, and handling of complaints)
    2. Evidence-based decision making; and
    3. Managing review or appeal of decisions; and
  4. Any other relevant matter.

Any person or organisation wishing to provide a written submission is invited to do so by Friday 19 March 2021.
