The literature analysis revealed two studies that found that mentoring programmes did have positive effects regarding young people, drug and alcohol use and violence.270 The national consultation process undertaken by Urbis Keys Young found that one mentoring programme found it difficult to engage some youth who had a history of significant cannabis use.
