Before entering Parliament Mark spent 16 years working in the non-profit community conservation sector. His last role before being elected to Parliament was as South Australia's only dedicated public interest environmental lawyer. In 10 years at the Environmental Defenders Office (EDO), Mark helped many thousands of South Australians to use the law to protect the environment. He has represented clients in a number of South Australia's most significant environmental court cases, including aquaculture, land clearing cases and community fights against large polluting industries. Mark has also taught environmental law at all three South Australian Universities.
Mark is the first member of the Australian Greens to be elected to the South Australian Parliament. He is committed to working towards achieving the Greens' principles of environmental sustainability, social justice and a more peaceful and democratic world.
