Committee Function

To consider and report on the matters in relation to the Parliamentary procedures and practices. The committee has decided to focus on the following issues:


[a] sitting times of the House (including number of sitting days);
[b] rules of debate (in particular time limits and the use of the guillotine);
[c] debates on matters of public importance;
[d] operation of question time;
[e] debates on reports tabled by Ministers;
[f] utilising technology to expedite passage of legislation;
[g] establishment of a Speaker's panel (including training);
[h] review the operation of Estimates Committees;
[i] referral of legislation to Committees.
