The new, nineteenth Public Works Committee continued the oversight role through referrals and quarterly reports and has undertaken site visits of the State Drill Core Reference Library and Tonsley Redevelopment site.

Ten reports were tabled: the Inquiry into Unconventional Gas (Fracking) Interim Report, the Annual Report for 2014–15, the Regional Report for March 2014 - April 2016, and seven reports on NRM levy proposals for 2016–17.

The Attorney-General stated the purpose of the Committee would be to, ‘make the operations of statutory authorities more open to detailed scrutiny to determine the desirability of their continuation and the propriety of their activities and actions’1 Reports of the Committee Since the Committee was formed in 1994, it has published 48 reports, covering the operations of particular authorities and examining issues of significance to all statutory bodies.

Over the course of its four inquiries into timeliness of annual reporting by statutory bodies, the Committee has encountered difficulties in identifying all statutory bodies for which annual reports are required to be tabled in Parliament.
