PRESIDING MEMBER’S FOREWORD
This report provides an overview of the activities undertaken by the Parliamentary
Committee on Occupational Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation (‘the Committee’)
between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020.

Fourteen reports were drafted and tabled in the reporting
period; these were the Annual Report for 2010/11, seven reports into Natural Resources Management
levy proposals for 2012/13, the final report from the Bushfire Inquiry, the report on the Committee's
Inquiry into the Draft Murray-Darling Basin Plan, the Annual Report on the Upper South East Dryland
Salinity and Flood Management Act for 2010/11, two reports on fact finding visits (Adelaide and
Mount Lofty Ranges NRM Board, and the Adelaide Desalination Plant), and a report on Little
Penguins.

The Attorney-General stated the purpose of the Committee would be
to, ‘make the operations of statutory authorities more open to detailed scrutiny to
determine the desirability of their continuation and the propriety of their activities
and actions’1
Reports of the Committee
Since the Committee was formed in 1994, it has published 48 reports, covering the
operations of particular authorities and examining issues of significance to all
statutory bodies.

The new, nineteenth Public Works Committee continued the oversight role through referrals and
quarterly reports and has undertaken site visits of the State Drill Core Reference Library and Tonsley
Redevelopment site.
