Drug screening We received a notification about a registered nurse who had addiction issues (amphetamine, cannabis and opioids).

An unrelated amendment is made to section 13 of the Act to facilitate the forfeiture of drugs, drug-growing equipment, and drug-using implements, when a cannabis expiation notice is enforced.    

DASC also drew the Committee's attention to a New South Wales survey by Howard and Ziefert (1990) which indicated that "over 90% of young offenders used alcohol, anaesthetics and nicotine, 87% cannabis, 53% stimulants, 49% inhalants, 41% hallucinogens [and] 26% narcotics" (Drug and Alcohol Services submission; p. 5). 4.2 RECIDIVIST OFFENDERS According to the Children's Interest Bureau, for many young people, involvement in offending behaviour is very transient and reflects the adolescent's need to "test the limits imposed by authority ... and the values and assumptions of the social order ".
