ď‚· speeding was considered a contributing factor in 30 per cent of fatal crashes
in 2015
ď‚· 22 per cent of drivers/riders killed in fatal crashes in 2015 had an illegal
blood alcohol concentration
ď‚· 24 per cent of drivers/riders killed in 2015 tested positive for the presence
of cannabis, methamphetamine or ecstasy or a combination of these drugs.

The ACCP informed the Committee that from the work by Jeffreys et al (2009) on the drug
use of parents whose children have entered care it is estimated that 70% of those children had
parents who were misusing substances, and of those parents, 77% were misusing alcohol,
53% cannabis and 50% amphetamines.180

I am not sure that everything is being done for those people medically who
experience conditions like nausea and extreme pain—for instance, medical cannabis.

The literature analysis revealed two studies
that found that mentoring programmes did have positive effects regarding young people,
drug and alcohol use and violence.279 The national consultation process undertaken by Urbis
Keys Young found that one mentoring programme found it difficult to engage some youth
who had a history of significant cannabis use.
